You can find municipal swimming pools online. During the summer the swimming lakes nearby are most appealing. Lac des Laives is about a 20 minute drive and has facilities; just bring towels and a picnic.

There is a lot of hiking in this region. You can hike right out of my property (there are marked trails up the hill and hikers pass by from time to time). Signs are put up during hunting season about which days to avoid certain areas. Take them seriously.

Le Ranch de Jacinthe. Very nice guided riding about 10 minutes from the house at Collongette-le-Haut. Tell her I sent you. She is very good and very safety-conscious and speaks just enough English.

The main cycling trail is called the "voie verte" and it is a well managed, pretty famous route going throughout France.

Skiing is a long day trip from my place, but doable. Les Rousses and other resorts in the Jura range, which straddles France and Switzerland, are about a 2 hour 15 minutes drive. The Jura are most famous for cross country skiing, but do have some good downhill areas, from what I've read. Chamonix and Albertville, in the Alps, are closer to 3 hours, but...it's the Alps.
